Apple Update iOS 5.0.1 Released

Last week Apple released iOS 5.0.1, which brings enhancements and bug fixes to iOS 5, including:

  • Fixes bugs affecting battery life
  • Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
  • Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
  • Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation

It also resolves the Smart Cover security issue on iPads, which has been widely reported (see the story here).

iOS 5.0.1 is available for the iPhone 4S, 4, and 3GS, the iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), and all iPad models. The update is available for download now via iTunes, and should also be available over the air (by going to Settings > General > Software Update).  Prior to performing this update, we recommend that you sync your iOS device with your Mac or PC in order to backup your device.

More on the software update is posted by Apple.  If you have any questions, please contact the Mobile Devices Team at mobile-help@mit.edu.
